Privacy and data

What is stored where, and what leaves your Mac.

Where data lives

Boards, listings, rank history and settings are in a local SQLite database in ~/Library/Application Support/LocalASO/. Secrets (Anthropic key, App Store Connect key) are encrypted with the macOS Keychain. Nothing syncs to a cloud.

What goes over the network

  • Apple’s public iTunes Search and Lookup APIs, for ranks and listings.
  • The AI provider you choose.
  • App Store Connect, only if you add a key.
  • Our license server: your key, a salted hash of your Mac and the Mac’s name, for activation and checks.

What does not

No analytics, no telemetry, no tracking. See the privacy policy.
