Quick answer

How Many Countries Is the App Store Available In?

App Store Connect help states the App Store is available in 175 countries or regions. Apple's localizations table lists 173 rows, each with a default language and additional supported languages.

Updated

Why the numbers differ

Treat 175 as Apple's stated total and the table as the per-storefront reference. Apple does not explain the difference of two rows on those pages, so do not build a spreadsheet that assumes exactly 173 or 175 without checking the current table.

Countries are not languages

Each country has a default language and may support more. Switzerland (CHE) defaults to German and also supports English (U.K.), French and Italian. The United States (USA) defaults to English (US) and supports nine additional languages, including Spanish (Mexico) and Chinese in two scripts. So one country can need several localizations, and the 50 languages are not 175 separate translations.

Worked example

If you launch in the US, Canada and Switzerland, you do not write three listings. You write per language: English (US), English (Canada), French (Canada), German, French and Italian are all relevant, at least six. Each has its own keyword field.

What LocalASO covers

LocalASO checks keywords in 52 App Store storefronts, each in the storefront's local language. That is a subset of Apple's total, and its volume and difficulty are estimates, not Apple's counts. See pricing for the one-time license.

Next step

Pick storefronts with the ranking by country guide and check each country's languages in the localizations table. Then see how many categories your app can choose from.
