Comparison

ASO tools you buy once instead of renting: one-time purchase options compared

As of November 2026, the ASO tools we could verify that sell a one-time license are three desktop apps: LocalASO at $29 for one Mac, Uprika at $47 for two devices with one year of updates, and Wow Keywords at $99 for two computers. Every other tool in our comparison charges a monthly or yearly fee, and some of them have a free tier.

LocalASO is one of the two, so read the table as a vendor's comparison and check each price on the linked pages before you decide.

AppTweak's page has selectors the extracted text does not label, so the three Essential prices cannot be matched to a setting from the text alone. Open the AppTweak pricing page to see the price for your setup.

What three years cost

A one-time license wins on arithmetic, not on features. Over 36 months, using the prices above:

ToolThree-year cost
LocalASO$29
Uprika$47, plus $29 per year only if you want updates after year one
Wow Keywords$99 (before any price step)
Astro$324 (3 x $108)
Dock Premium, yearlyEUR 134.97 (3 x EUR 44.99)
MobileAction Lite, yearly billing$450 (36 x $12.5)

The monthly plans from web platforms cost more because they include things a solo developer may not use: team seats, Google Play, market intelligence and support staff. The AppTweak comparison and the MobileAction comparison show what those extras are.

What a one-time license does not give you

  • No web access. All three one-time tools are desktop apps. LocalASO needs macOS 14 or later and has no Windows, iPhone or iPad version. Wow Keywords also lists a Windows 11 beta.
  • One store. LocalASO works with the Apple App Store only, not Google Play. If you ship on Android, a one-time Mac app covers half of your work.
  • Estimated volume. LocalASO's volume and difficulty are 0-100 estimates from the rating counts of the apps ranking for a keyword, not Apple search counts. Wow Keywords describes the same method. Astro says it reads popularity from Apple Search Ads instead; see the Astro comparison.
  • Policy limits. LocalASO sales are final, with no refunds, and one key activates one Mac. Read these before paying.

Questions to ask before you buy

  1. Do you need Google Play? If yes, pick a subscription tool that covers it, such as Dock, App Radar or AppTweak.
  2. Do you work alone? One-time apps assume one person on one or two computers.
  3. Do you need Apple's own popularity score? Only tools that read Apple Search Ads data show it. Estimates from ratings are fine for ranking keyword ideas, but they are not Apple's numbers. The search volume guide explains the difference.
  4. How many apps and countries do you cover? LocalASO checks 52 storefronts; Wow Keywords lists 52 App Store countries too.
  5. Where does your data live? LocalASO stores keywords, ranks and listings in a database on your Mac.

Which one-time tool to pick

Uprika works differently: it runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, covers Google Play as well, and its one-time price includes a year of updates rather than lifetime updates (see the Uprika comparison). LocalASO and Wow Keywords overlap heavily: both research keywords in 52 countries, estimate volume from ratings, and connect to your own AI through MCP. Wow Keywords costs more, covers two computers and has a Windows beta. LocalASO costs less and covers one Mac. The Wow Keywords alternative page compares them line by line. If you only need to see what a tool costs in the long run, the indie developer roundup adds the free options.

Questions

Is there an ASO tool with a lifetime license?
Yes. As of November 2026 three desktop apps we verified sell one: LocalASO at $29 once for one Mac, Uprika at $47 once for two devices (one year of updates), and Wow Keywords at $99 once for two computers. The other tools we checked bill monthly or yearly.
Does a one-time license include future updates?
Wow Keywords says updates are included forever; Uprika includes one year of updates and then keeps working. LocalASO's pricing states that updates are included; check the pricing page for the current wording.
What do you give up with a one-time ASO tool?
Usually web access, team seats, Google Play data and historical market data. You also depend on one vendor staying in business to keep the app working with Apple's changes.
