Developer response (App Store reviews)
A developer response is your public reply to a customer review on the App Store. You write it in App Store Connect, and it appears under the review on your product page.

Apple's rules and advice
- You can respond to all reviews of your app, regardless of when they were written.
- The reviewer is notified and can update their review.
- You can edit your response at any time, and only the latest version is shown.
- App Store Connect users with an Admin or Customer Support role can view, sort and respond.
- Responses should be respectful and should not include personal information, marketing language or spam.
- If you cannot answer every review, prioritize the lowest star ratings or reviews mentioning technical issues with the current version.
When not to reply
For offensive material, spam or other content that violates Apple's terms, use Report a Concern under the review instead of replying. The reviewer is not told.
Why respond
A response can change the outcome: the reviewer may update the rating. It also shows future visitors that the app is supported, which supports conversion rate.
Structure
- Thank the reviewer in one short sentence.
- Name the specific problem they mentioned.
- State what you did or will do, and in which version.
- Point to the support contact if more is needed. See Support URL.
Example
A hypothetical reply: "Thanks for the details. Reminders failing after a restart was a bug in 2.3, fixed in 2.4. If it still happens, write to us from the Support link and we will look into it." It names the issue and the fix without selling anything.
Common mistakes
- Pasting the same text into every reply.
- Asking for a five-star rating in the reply.
Next step
Mention fixes in What's New and review how to collect more feedback with the rating prompt.
