Quick answer

App Store Preview Video Length and Format

An App Store app preview video must be between 15 and 30 seconds long, with a maximum file size of 500MB. You can upload up to three previews per supported device size and language.

Previews apply to iOS, macOS, tvOS and visionOS. They autoplay muted on the product page, so the first seconds must make sense without sound.

What the video may show

Guideline 2.3.4 says previews may only use video screen captures of the app itself, with optional narration and overlays. A cinematic trailer without app footage does not meet it.

Worked example

A 28-second capture at 30 fps passes the length and frame-rate rules, while a 12-second clip is below the 15-second minimum, and a 45-second walkthrough exceeds the 30-second maximum. Trim to the single flow that sells the app.

Search results

Depending on platform and orientation, search results show up to three screenshots or app previews. When no preview is available, the first one to three screenshots appear instead; see how many screenshots to upload. Previews also carry over to custom product pages, which can each use different previews.

Next step

Compare these numbers with the rest of the page in the metadata limits reference. If you add languages, localize previews per language, since the three-preview limit is per language.
