Quick answer

How Many Screenshots Can You Upload to the App Store?

You can upload up to 10 screenshots per device size, and at least one is required. Search results show far fewer: depending on orientation, the first one to three.

Updated

Upload limit versus what people see

The maximum of 10 is a ceiling on the product page, per device size. Apple says search results may display the app rating and up to three screenshots or app previews, depending on platform and image orientation. When no app preview is available, the first one to three screenshots are used there. So the order matters more than the count: your first three images have to work without the other seven.

Apple also allows up to three app previews per device size and language. A preview, if you have one, takes the place of screenshots in those search-result slots.

Worked example

A hypothetical habit tracker uploads eight iPhone screenshots. Only the first one to three appear in a result row; the other five appear only after someone opens the product page. Lead with the screen that shows the core job, not the sign-up screen. Guideline 2.3.3 says screenshots should show the app in use.

Localization

When you add a language, screenshots and properties default to the primary language's, except description and keywords. You can keep the same images or replace them with translated ones per language. Check the language count before planning a full set.
