Short description50 characters
Long description120 characters
Internal reference name64 characters

Timing and counts

An event can last up to 31 days, with a minimum of 15 minutes, and can be published up to 14 days before its start date. An app can have up to 10 In-App Events published at a time and up to 15 approved events in App Store Connect at a time.

Where events appear

In-App Events appear in App Store search results. The event card shows next to the app for users who have the app, and screenshots show for those who do not.

Worked example

For a hypothetical habit tracker, "30-Day Streak Challenge" is 23 characters and fits the name field. A short description of "Build a streak with us all November" is 35 characters and fits the 50. A description over 120 characters has to be shortened, since the long description is the tightest field. Count each line before you submit.

Common mistakes

  • Using the internal reference name (64 characters) as the public name (30).
  • Planning more than 10 published at once.
  • Writing event copy once and reusing it unchecked in every language, where translations can run longer.

Next step

Count the text in the character counter. The same name limit of 30 applies to the app name, and you can compare against the number of languages to see how many sets of copy you need.
