Use case
LocalASO for ASO freelancers and agencies: what fits, what does not
LocalASO suits an ASO freelancer or a very small agency that does the keyword and localization work itself on a Mac. It does not suit an agency that needs multi-seat web dashboards, client logins or scheduled reports, because one $29 license activates one Mac and keeps data on that Mac.

Who this is for
You do ASO for clients as a one-person consultancy or a small team. You research, write the metadata and deliver recommendations, and you decide how much of that stays in your own tools.
The problems agencies usually have
- Many clients, many apps, many languages. Each engagement repeats the same research steps in new storefronts.
- Deliverables a client can read. Clients want proposed text and reasons, not a login to your tool.
- Cost per client. A subscription priced per app or per keyword eats margin on small accounts.
- Client data handling. Some clients do not want their listings in a third-party cloud.
A per-client routine
- Add the client's app as My app and the rivals the client names as Competitor. You can hold as many apps as you need and switch between them.
- Run the board across the client's markets and note Push and Swap keywords with the rank evidence behind them.
- Use localization to get local phrases per country rather than literal translations. The localization guide explains how to decide which languages come first.
- In Optimize, generate a proposal per language and Export to file. The JSON and Markdown files are your deliverable.
- If the client gives you an App Store Connect key with App Manager rights, upload as a draft. The client submits for review.
Because boards live in a local database, you can archive finished client apps instead of deleting them.
What agencies need that LocalASO does not provide
| Need | Status in LocalASO |
|---|---|
| Several teammates in one workspace | No. One license, one Mac. Each extra seat is another license. |
| Client-facing web dashboard | No. It is a Mac app; there is no web version. |
| Scheduled reports and white-label PDFs | No. Export gives JSON and Markdown per language. |
| Google Play | No. Apple App Store only. |
| Real Apple search counts | No. Volume and difficulty are estimates from rating counts. |
| Historical market data | No. Rank history is stored from the moment you add keywords. |
For team work, tools aimed at teams fit better. As of November 2026, AppTweak lists its Essential ASO plan from $949 per year (annual billing) with 5 apps and 500 keywords, and MobileAction's top ASO tier lists unlimited seats. Those prices and seats buy shared access that a one-Mac license cannot.
A practical split: use LocalASO for the research and writing you do alone, and a team platform for client-facing monitoring. Check the comparison pages before buying either.
Next step
If you work alone, pricing is one payment per Mac. Agencies growing past that can read how a publisher with many apps keeps ownership of a portfolio, or how game developers approach their category.
