ASO glossary
Quick-win keyword (ASO)
A quick-win keyword is a relevant term for which you already rank close to the top and where competition is manageable, so a small change can move you into the top 10. It is the best return for the least effort.
Updated
How to recognize one
In LocalASO the rule matches the Push verdict: you rank 4 to 20, volume is solid and difficulty is below 80. Rank 4 to 20 means Apple already considers your app relevant. The aim is to lift it, not to win a new term from nothing.
Levers
| Lever | Cost |
|---|---|
| Move the term to the subtitle or app name | Uses characters in a 30-character field |
| Add the term to the keyword field if it is missing | Uses bytes |
| Improve the page for people who see it | See conversion rate |
Apple does not document how much each field weighs against the others, so test one change at a time.
Example
A hypothetical habit tracker ranks #11 for "daily planner" with solid volume and difficulty 55. The team moves the phrase from the keyword field into the subtitle and waits for the update, which may take up to 24 hours to appear. Two weeks later it ranks #8.
Common mistakes
- Chasing a quick win that is not relevant to your app.
- Changing several fields at once, which makes the result unreadable.
- Giving up a good position elsewhere. Protect rank 1 to 3 terms; see dead keyword for terms to drop instead.

Next step
Read the suggestions docs and measure with rank tracking.
When a term is not worth keeping, see keyword swap.
